My first post! Exciting! (and long overdue)
If any of my friends are reading this, you know that I have been talking about making a blog for forever, *specifically* a travel blog.
I’m not going to lie, I have had plenty of opportunities to write travel blogs but I just never took advantage of them. I chalk that up to being preoccupied with school (but I think it’s really just laziness). I am planning to document some of those adventures still 🙂
The real change that pushed me to start a blog is much bigger than a trip, though.
I am moving to Rome.
It doesn’t feel real yet, if I am honest. But! My visa application has been submitted and, come January (if my visa is approved, of course), I will be living in a convent working for a study abroad program in Rome.
Traveling usually doesn’t feel real to me until I am on the plane. This phenomenon is true for other people as well. I went to Peru for 10 days in March and even as we sat in the airport waiting for our flight to Lima, my friends agreed it just did not feel like we were actually going. Of course, it’s real once we are standing on their ground, breathing their air, and hearing their language. Then once the trip is over, that feeling of fantasy begins again. Seriously, every trip I have ever taken outside of the US feels like it didn’t really happen.
Nevertheless, I am moving to Rome. For a whole year. I sincerely hope you will join me, through this and social media, although if you could come live with me I wouldn’t complain 😉
Here’s to new adventures, new people, and new perspectives!
